Ah, your wedding day! One of, if not the most, special days of your life. After months and months of planning, it’s almost time to walk down the aisle and say “I do.” Everything should go smoothly if you are prepared and what better way to prepare with these 9 tips:

1. Have a timeline.

Having a timeline is absolutely crucial! Things will run behind schedule if you do not give yourself more than enough time on your wedding day. If you are running late, you will be a frazzled mess. If you think getting everyone ready will take 4 hours, plan for 5.

2. Don’t forget an emergency kit!

Things happen, so make sure you have an emergency kit around. Your nails could chip, hair falls, drinks are spilled. Anything could happen. So why not be prepared. That’s why it’s important to have a day-of emergency kit for any mini-emergencies. Some things that should definitely should be in your kit is water, deodorant, mints, aspirin/ibuprofen, antacid, lipgloss/lipstick, dental floss, sewing kit, first aid kit, touch-up powder, bobby pins, mirror, band-aids, stain remover, safety pins, smelling salts, hand sanitizer, scissors, Q tips, and yes, a lint roller.

3. Give out bridesmaid gifts.

If you have getting-ready robes, monogrammed shirts, or any other gifts for your bridesmaids, distribute them the night before so they can wear them on arrival to the getting-ready space, or right when they get there as a fun surprise.

This will ensure ample space for your guests, tables, waiters, the DJ, and a dance floor. A good rule of thumb is to allow 25-30sq ft of space per guest.

4. Get plenty of Zzz’s.

If it’s plausible, crawl into bed a little earlier than usual the week before your wedding. The more rest you get, the better off you will feel. Once your wedding activities start, you may not get the sleep you want or need.

5. Pamper Yourself

Make room for you in your schedule. Take a warm bath with oils (unless you have spray tan on!) and flower petals. Light some candles, play some relaxing music and tell yourself, everything is going to go as planned.

6. Last but not least, confirmation.

Confirm arrival times to all of the vendors working with you on your big day. Give the final headcount to your hotel and caterer on the Monday before the wedding. Finalize the seating arrangements and also confirm flight times and hotel bookings for your honeymoon.

Yes, planning your big day is a lot of work and well, quite stressful. But let’s face it, something could go wrong, but don’t live in fear. Just be prepared to roll with the punches and breathe. Everything will be alright.
